Norah Jones

I could not talk about my favorite writer because I don’t really have it. To be honest reading is not my favorite hobby. If I have to compare the life and writings of an artist, then I choose to talk about my favorite singer, Norah Jones.
Norah Jones was born on March 30, 1979 in New York City. Her music has a great combination of jazz, country, blues and a little bit of soul. Great musicians like Etta James, Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin and Ray Charles had influenced in her music style.
In her firsts albums she wrote few songs like Nightingale, The Long Day Is Over and her hit Come Away with Me, her first multi-platinum success. Her newest album, Not Too Late has 13 songs that reflect her new freedom. You can found from typical love songs to more serious ones and even a few with political messages, such as the song “My Dear Country,” written in response to the Iraq invasion.
Her songs express intimacy. She is shy that’s why her songs are very calm. She writes “with her heart on her sleeve”. Listening to her songs will take you away. The emotion, feeling, and honesty Norah shares in every song have made her a new promise in these times where music has turned into –to me- crap.
